Accept Yourself was born in an area of West Texas along the Mexican border that AAA refers to as "no mans land". Rustbelt troubadour, emoore saylavee, found himself stranded here with a broken van stuck in a ditch. In the process of scouring the desert for means of survival, emoore and his dog,all city savannah, came across some Mexican speaking cowboys who were reviving an abandoned truck stop and engaging in various other hustles. After a fairly long courting period, complete with language barriers, a crew of the cowboys came and helped pull the van out of ditch and brought it to their land where emoore had given his word to work off his debt for their troubles and help. After long days of work, sitting in the desolate desert, the original melodies that gave spark to accept yourself were born.
Having spent time recently studying modal based North Indian classical music and independently learning western melodic music theory combined with the exposure to some of the melodic "shoegaze" music coming out of Brooklyn- emoore had planted a seed in his heart and mind to put together some sort of reverby and danceable melodic rock music, but with a more down to earth/zen approach to lyrics to give it a rugged non-pretentious nature contrast to what is often associated with indie rock.
While working on music, at the abandoned truck stop, emoore was also reading a book by the mystic Osho that was highly influencing his approach to life and being in the moment with awareness. Deciding to find the name of the music project in that book, he came across this idea:
"Accept yourself as you are. And that is the most difficult thing in the world, because it goes against your training, education, your culture. From the very beginning you have been told how you should be. Nobody has ever told you that you are good as you are
Don't be obsessed with yourself -- but a natural self-love is a must, a basic phenomenon. Only then out of it can you love somebody else. Accept yourself, love yourself.
Nobody else has ever been like you and nobody else will ever be like you; you are simply unique, incomparable. Accept this, love this, celebrate this -- and in that very celebration you will start seeing the uniqueness of the others, the incomparable beauty of the others. Love is possible only when there is a deep acceptance of oneself, the other, the world. Acceptance creates the milieu in which love grows, the soil in which love blooms."
Running with this idea, emoore, made it back to the Rustbelt(a string of post industrial, often forgotten cities in the north east) mostly via hitchhiking, as the aforementioned van met her fate of the scrap yard in Memphis, to grab an electric guitar and a reverby amp, and to continue to write songs and play shows vigorously solo and with groups and enjoy low rent situations in Rochester,NY and Detroit,MI. Currently based in New York City
